Myofascial release ($20)

-Myofascial release, or MFR, is a comprehensive, whole body, hands-on approach that restores the necessary slack in the connective tissue web to help eliminate lameness and enhance a horse’s performance. Therapists who are skilled in MFR have developed their proprioceptive senses to detect fascial restrictions throughout the horse’s body with their hands.
MFR differs from massage and chiropractic manipulation. MFR applies sustained pressure into the fascial system and has effects on the elastin, collagen and ground substance. Soft tissue restrictions that alter body alignment are addressed and released. They are performed slowly and without manipulation.

Benefits of MFR:
  • Increase blood flow

  • Decrease pain

  • Increase range of motion

  • Prevent injury

  • Boots nerve function

  • Strengthens immune system

MFR can help horses that have ...
  • a history of chronic lameness,

  • previous injuries or surgeries,

  • decreased range of motion, and

  • irritability or unwillingness to work.
